Three ACCA students reflect on the guidance they received, the responsibilities they took on, and the pace of their first month at Morison LC.

Their first month at Morison LC brought the three students into different working environments, with experienced audit professionals guiding their work from the start. Angie Goh moved from office preparation to work at a client site, Hong Jian Feng joined an outstation client engagement, and Choo Bao Jian adjusted to the pace of an office team handling a steady flow of assignments.

Angie Goh: Moving into supervised client-site work

Angie's first week was about learning how Morison LC planned and recorded audit work. She began with office preparation, then moved into fieldwork at a client site. As she assisted with audit procedures, Angie began to see how individual tasks fit into the wider audit process.

She was not left to work through those new responsibilities alone. Angie described her manager and seniors as approachable and patient. Her manager checked on her progress, while her senior and team answered questions and guided her through gradually wider responsibilities.

‘This exposure has strengthened my technical knowledge, improved my attention to detail, and given me a clearer understanding of the responsibilities and expectations of an auditor,’ she said.

Hong Jian Feng: Adapting to an outstation client engagement

Jian Feng spent his first week learning the firm's audit processes. In his second week, the setting changed when he joined his team on an outstation client engagement.

The first few days brought a large amount of unfamiliar work. As he assisted with audit procedures, he had to absorb new information and adjust to the engagement's pace.

His team was an important part of that adjustment. Jian Feng described his colleagues as helpful and willing to answer questions. Their guidance helped him work through tighter deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

Looking back, he described the month as ‘both challenging and rewarding’. The experience, he said, gave him greater confidence in carrying out audit tasks and strengthened his understanding of the profession.

Choo Bao Jian: Finding his footing in a fast paced office

Bao Jian's first month followed an office-based rhythm. He described the environment as fast paced, with the team handling a high volume of audit assignments.

As he supported audit preparation, working closely with supervisors and colleagues gave him a practical view of how an audit is carried out. The pace also pushed him to manage his time and communicate clearly.

The experience sharpened a career question he was already considering. ‘This internship helped me bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice, and it has further strengthened my interest in pursuing a career in auditing,’ he said.

The steady flow of assignments showed Bao Jian how much detail and organisation sit behind audit work.

What the first month clarified

The same month left each student with a different point of clarity.

Angie developed a clearer understanding of an auditor's responsibilities and how individual tasks fit into a wider process. Jian Feng came away with greater confidence and a better sense of how to respond when the workload and pace increased. Bao Jian found that the office experience strengthened his interest in auditing as a possible career.

Through the collaboration between Taylor's College and Morison LC, the students connected their ACCA learning with first-hand experience of audit work. The month gave them a closer look at workplace expectations and the kind of work they may encounter as they prepare for their future careers.
