Module Exemption

If you have completed a module at another institution that is deemed equivalent to a module offered at Taylor’s College, you may be granted a module exemption. This means you are not required to retake the exempted module. 

Credit Transfer

Credit transfer refers to credits granted to students in recognition of:

  • Previous studies at the same or lower level of qualification, or
  • Credits earned through study abroad or student exchange programmes
  • Credits earned through APEL.C (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Credit Award), MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) or Micro-credentials

These approved credits count toward your current programme at Taylor’s College. You will only need to complete the remaining (balance) credits required to meet your programme’s graduation requirements.

Grades for modules granted through credit transfer or module exemption from other institutions do not contribute to your CGPA calculation at Taylor’s College. Only modules completed at Taylor’s at the same academic level, with assigned grades may be factored into your CGPA subject to meeting prescribed requirements.

Transferring from Another Institution
Completed relevant modules elsewhere? You may be eligible for credit transfer if your previous institution is accredited, you met the required grades, and the content matches at least 80% of Taylor’s syllabus.

Switching Programmes Within Taylor’s
If you're changing to another programme within Taylor’s, you can apply to transfer credits for modules you’ve already completed—saving time and avoiding repetition.

Rejoining Taylor’s (Re-admission)
Returning after a deferment or withdrawal? You may reclaim credits from previously completed modules, as long as they’re still valid and align with your new programme.

From a Degree Transfer Programme
Students from ADTP, UKDTP, or AusDTP can apply to transfer eligible credits into Taylor’s undergraduate programmes, provided the requirements are met.

Prior Learning via MOOC, Micro-Credentials, or APEL.C
Learning from MOOCs, micro-credentials, or APEL.C can count towards your studies. Credit exemptions may be granted, subject to limits and content relevance.

Working Professionals (Industrial Training Exemption)
Part-time student with 5+ years of relevant work experience? You may apply for exemption from industrial training modules based on your industry background.

  • Modules must come from a fully/provisionally accredited or recognised programme.
  • Must be completed within 10 years prior to application (can be shorter depending on the programme).
  • A minimum of 80% equivalence in content is required for core modules.
  • Minimum passing grade:
    • Grade C for undergraduates
    • Grade B for postgraduates
  • Module credit value must be equal to or greater than the module at Taylor’s.
  • No credit transfer allowed for:
    • Final year projects/thesis components, unless agreed between Taylor's and the partner institution, and projects/thesis completed via micro-credential offered by Taylor's
    • Taylor's students or students from other institutions who have failed and have been terminated or excluded from the programme due to academic reasons (except termination due to not meeting entry requirement) and wish to continue their studies
    • Modules from terminated academic records
  • Credit transfers do not count toward CGPA, unless the module was taken and graded within Taylor's and meets strict criteria.

  • If you are a new student, submit your application during the enrolment process via TOPAS.
  • If you are an existing student and missed applying during enrolment, then complete the Module Exemption / Credit Transfer Application Form (fill in Section A only) and submit via this link: https://forms.office.com/r/8zBWz0RT1e, along with:
    • Certified true copies of your academic records
    • Course outlines or syllabuses for comparison
    • Enrolment Verification letter (from previous institution)
  • Students may submit their credit transfer applications at any time. However, for modules they are currently registered in, the submission must be made before the end of the teaching weeks.
Step 2: Checks and Evaluation by Campus Central and Programme Director

  • Your application will be checked and reviewed by Campus Central.
  • It will then be escalated to your Programme Director for evaluation.
Step 3: Outcome

  • You will receive an outcome email from Campus Central within the processing time via your Taylor's email.

If your appeal is rejected, you may appeal only if you can provide additional or updated evidence, such as:

  • A more detailed syllabus or course outline
  • Clarified academic transcripts or grading schemes
  • Verification letters from your previous institution

Yes, you will need to inform Campus Central. You are required to enrol in the module and pay the applicable fees. Please note that you will not be allowed to re-apply for credit transfer once you have attempted the module.
