On 26 July 2025, Taylor’s Lakeside Campus opened its doors to secondary school students from 14 schools for Exploration Day 2025 — a full-day event crafted to help students uncover their academic and career interests through immersive, hands-on learning.

From the moment they arrived, students were guided through a journey of self-discovery. A career aptitude or interest test set the tone for the day, helping participants gain clarity on their natural strengths and preferences — and how those might align with real-world pathways. But rather than just talk about options, the event invited students to experience them firsthand.

Immersive Experiences Across Disciplines

The highlight of the day was a series of 26 concurrent academic workshops, each aligned to themes selected by the students during registration. Participants were grouped according to their interest areas, ensuring a personalised and relevant experience.

These sessions, conducted across various schools and faculties at Taylor’s, gave students a practical look into fields ranging from science and tech to hospitality, psychology, and media. Here are some of the hands-on highlights:

1) Investigating the Crime Scene Workshop from the School of Biosciences enabled students to become forensic investigators by extracting DNA from yoghurt and human cells — simulating real lab techniques used in crime scene analysis.

2) Journey into Chromatography from the School of Pharmacy introduced students to how scientists separate and analyse medicines using TLC techniques — offering a real-world look into pharmaceutical science.

3) Digitalisation & Management Accounting Workshop from the Taylor’s Business School & School of Accounting and Finance helped students to explore how technologies like AI, automation, and cloud tools are reshaping financial decision-making.

5) The Debate on Laws, Ethics, & Economy from the School of Law and Governance challenged students to take on roles as lawmakers and problem-solvers while building a country, debating policies, and tackling real legal cases.

6) A Berry Genetic Discovery Workshop from the School of Pre-University Studies - AUSMAT allowed students to extract DNA from strawberries while learning how genetics and biology shape living organisms.

Each workshop was designed to reflect Taylor’s emphasis on experiential learning — bridging classroom theory with real-world relevance.

A Glimpse into University Life

Beyond the classroom, Exploration Day gave students a preview of life at Taylor’s. After the workshops, students had the chance to explore the Lakeside Campus through guided tours, interact with student ambassadors, and take in the vibrant learning environment.

The event brought together students from national, UEC, private, and international schools — all engaging in different tracks, yet united by a shared goal: to make more informed decisions about their future.

Exploration Day 2025 reflected Taylor’s belief that education should go beyond textbooks. By placing students at the centre of the experience and allowing them to explore, experiment, and engage — even just for a day — the event helped turn curiosity into action.
