CAREbinet by The Risers is an initiative aiming to fulfil the fundamental needs of students in underserved communities so that they can excel in their academic pursuit, whilst also empowering the school community to foster a culture of sustainable practices to ensure an equitable and inclusive future for all.
It was conceptualised in response to the challenges faced by many families in supporting their children's education, particularly due to the increasing costs of essential goods.
By creating a culture of sustainability, we hope to make a lasting impact and ensure that every student has access to the resources they need to live a thriving life.
You can bring and donate daily essentials for underserved students in the Klang Valley through our eco-friendly CAREbinet:
Staple food: Rice, biscuits, canned food, etc.
Hygiene products: Soap, shampoo, sanitary pads, etc.
Stationery: Scientific calculators, notepads, pen, etc.
Your generosity and compassion will help shape a healthier, happier, and more inclusive future for Malaysian students. Thank you!
The initiative involves fundraising, building and distributing 14 CAREbinets to schools in Kuala Lumpur. It also highlights the importance of community involvement in ensuring a sustainable and inclusive future through a series of educational programmes such as school talks and workshops.
The Risers Ambassadors and Taylor's College students built the 14 CAREbinets with guidance and assistance from creative hub Mereka, using plastic waste and used beverage cartons (UBC), which were converted into polyAl panel boards.
Taylor’s College Student Council (TCSC) ran several rounds of donation drives to collect household supplies and stationery, namely rice, cooking oil and scientific calculators. These donation drives contributed to raising awareness among the Taylorian community to donate and make a bigger impact for those in need.
Cambridge A Level (CAL) students conducted a donation drive to collect study supplies, such as stationery and exercise books, with the aim of easing the burden of students from less fortunate communities. This ensures that they have access to the basic education supplies so that they can focus on what truly matters - their education.
With the support of esteemed partners such as Adabi, Gardenia, Jasmine, Kotex, Mereka, and Unilever to foster nation-building initiatives through community partnerships, the CAREbinets will be restocked from March to December 2023 with essential items such as bread, rice, soup paste, instant beverages, hand soap, shampoo, deodorant, and sanitary pads.
Organisations and members of the public are also welcome to participate and contribute to the schools through in-kind donations through our Adopt a School programme. Join us in building caring communities, one school at a time.
