2017 got off to a flying start for Taylor’s College as a total of 248 recipients from the South Australian Matriculation (SAM) /SACE International attained ATAR 80 and above in the 2016 South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). These students were recognised for their outstanding performance at the SACE International award ceremony graced by the Chief Executive, SACE Board of South Australia, Dr. Neil McGoran.
Neoh Xin Er was lauded as world’s top scorer amongst all SACE International students in the 2016 examination. She earned the SACE International Highest Achiever Award by attaining an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 99.75. In addition, out of the 17 Highest SACE International Subject Achievement awards granted by the SACE Board, 15 were awarded to students from Taylor’s College. The students also garnered 27 out 29 SACE Subject Merit Award accorded to SACE International students worldwide. This prestigious award recognises students who achieved an A+ with Merit in an academic subject.

As a pioneer in the SACE International programme in Malaysia, Taylor’s College complements the robust curriculum by enhancing essential skills based on the 5’Cs – Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Communications, Collaboration and Creativity and Innovation and Cultural Adaptations as well as the 3 Ls – Learning Skills, Life Skills and Leadership Skills, that will equip students with a holistic array of important skills necessary in becoming a productive member of society,” said Mr. Craig Sherrin, President of Taylor’s College.

Speaking of her time in the college, Neoh added, “I am pleased and humbled by the recognition given but this success is not entirely my own as I must thank my teachers, friends and family for being so supportive. I chose the SACE International at Taylor’s College on account of their excellent track record and their focus on a holistic education that also emphasises on community service and teamwork.”
“My studies at Taylor’s College was especially rewarding as I have learned beneficial soft skills and been given the exposure to invaluable life experiences by working with people from all walks of life. Being a student here gave me the opportunity to participate in voluntary tutoring to refugee children as part of the SACE International community service initiative and it was truly a fulfilling experience for me.”
Arman Razhan Merican, another recipient who scored an impressive ATAR of 96.2, believes that being a SACE International student had helped him develop practical skills and knowledge beyond the classroom.
“I have learnt useful skills that I found invaluable such as time management, teamwork, patience and communication skills during my course. Studying here was an amazing experience as I had the opportunity to participate in a community service project where I was one of the volunteer tutors to a group of urban poor primary school children. My time here at Taylor’s College was truly a rewarding experience that I will cherish for years to come.”
The South Australian Matriculation or SACE International is an internationally recognised pre-university course that is equivalent to the Year 12 high school education in Australia. The programme consists of 70% college-based assessment moderated by SACE board and 30% final examination marked in Australia. Taylor’s College is the pioneer in offering the programme in Malaysia since 1982. Graduates of SAM/SACE International are awarded the South Australian Certificate of Education which is internationally recognised by the world’s top universities.
