Taylor’s College has named tertiary education leader, Craig Arden Sherrin as its new President effective 4 February 2016. Sherrin, the former Minister for Family Services for the Australian state of Queensland, succeeds Lim Tau Boon, who left the post last year.
In his new role, Sherrin will be responsible for leading all aspects of Taylor’s College’s academic and operational standards, ensuring that it achieves consistent growth in academic quality and operational efficiency at its campus branches located in Subang Jaya and Sri Hartamas.
Speaking on his appointment, Sherrin said, “I am honoured to be leading a new chapter as the President of Taylor’s College. It is a great privilege to be given the responsibility of leading the oldest private pre-university institution in Malaysia through a challenging yet exciting higher education market environment.
“I am proud to be entrusted with extending and expanding Taylor’s College’s rich heritage and vast potential. The college has always provided an exemplary educational experience for its students and is widely trusted due to this track record. The students have also gone on to achieve international academic success and carved out leading roles in business, politics and the community,” he added.
Meanwhile, commenting on Sherrin’s appointment, Dato' Loy Teik Ngan, Chief Executive Officer of Taylor's Education Group, said: “The TEG team warmly welcomes Craig to our family. He adds extensive international experience and knowledge to the Taylor’s College management team, and has already shared insightful ideas on how we can further elevate our pre-university educational offerings. We look forward to working with Craig to plan and roll out these forward-looking strategies in our relevant capacities.”
Graduating from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor’s degree in Science and a Masters in Educational Studies, Sherrin has extensive senior management roles in educational institutions such as the Northpoint Institute of TAFE, Southbank Institute of Technology and Emirates Driving Institute. He also served on multiple government committees in Australia as a Member of Parliament for Queensland, and as the state’s Minister for Family Services.
